Permitted Development Rights

Eden News - New Permitted Development Rights (PDR) Class A Part 1 changes will shortly allow homeowners to conduct larger extension works without needing a planning application.
These future changes (if approved) will permit increased extension depths from 3m to 4m for semi-detached or terrace houses and up to 5 meters for detached properties.
The regulations for extensions will be updated, hopefully allowing for larger side extensions and alterations to the roof and loft living space. Current single-storey side extensions should not exceed half the width of the existing house with a maximum height of 4m.
In short, these new PDR changes will provide more living space with no full planning application required. The new Planning Portal website and application approval process should also be much easier and more appealing for homeowners.
For extensions within the 2m boundary line, the maximum eaves height will probably remain restricted to 3m. However, there will be flexibilities to allow bin and bike stores in front gardens under these new regulations
